So here we go. This is like my 4th time trying to start a blog but really the first one that I thought about basing it around something to actually write about. You know, instead of just writing random shit like a journal or something. My idea for writing a Saturday Night Live recap came to me two weeks ago during the Gwyneth Paltrow-Cee Lo episode. It was such an interestng SNL that I ended up texting a buddy of mine about it even though he wasn't even watching it. He thought it was really weird that I was so fired up so I decided to stop bothering people on a 1-on-1 basis and start putting my thoughts about the most influential show ever up for everyone to see/read/no do either of those.



So why SNL? Because I grew up watching it (early 90's). It was the first show I stayed up past my bedtime to watch. It was the most counter-culter thing I could do as an 8 year old. Those were the good years too. Chris Farley, Adam Sandler, Phil Hartman, etc, etc, etc. Obviously I didn't understand all the jokes at that age but that didn't really matter. Watching SNL felt, for me at least, like becing part of something shared.

Over the past 10 or so years, as just about everyone knows, the show has taken a bit of a dip in quality. Now some of this is obviously just an example of hindsight is 20/20. I'm sure not EVERYBODY loved "canteen boy" when that shit aired.

However the truth must be told, the show is getting weak. Now whether this is because of the new "celebrity" age we're moving into or whatever, who cares. This is a show that in our minds should be an hour and thirty minutes of absurd, timely, creative, intelligent comedy and will never be.

That being said, let's try and figure out a way we can critique this low brow show in a way where maybe we can make it better.
